American Imperialism?

Can you please give me some background on the history of U.S. imperialism in the Philippines, Panama and Hawaii. Try to include what our interest was, some key events and the effects thereof. I am interested to see why the U.S. wants these countries and why not keep Panama and the Philippines. This is not part of my task as it only had to research in Cuba, but after hearing about the irony the war was for America. I have a growing interest in some of the other nations, I heard he wanted to take over. Thank you for your contributions.
